Ride Of Silence

I got handed a flier the other day on my ride home for the ride of silence.

Wednesday May 21st at 6:45pm In front of the Art Museum. Its a ride to Honor those who have been hit by motorists, and killed or injured.

Since I got hit a by a car a couple years ago and needed a new smile, broke some bones, and put a hole in my lip...I am going to ride...

I am also going to ride because one of my co-workers just handed me the same flier, and I remembered his Daughter's Boyfriend was killed on his bike, by a bus. If you ride a Bike, this ride is happening all over the world. Go to www.rideofsilence.org to see if there is a location near where you live.

Weezer: Back in the Saddle?

Weezers new album is getting alot of press. This is kind of exciting news. I have high hopes for this album. I have not purchased a weezer album since pinkteron. Maybe this 3rd self titled album will pick up where they left off in the mid nineties and take their place in alt rock history. I always thought they would be the successors to the Pavement throne that was vacated when they split up, but each record since pinkerton hit the market has been distracted, and sounding forced...so, maybe the mustache and the cowboy hat will help rivers cuomo and his harvard education climb back up on the horse.

You can listen to the new single "pork and beans" streaming at http://www.weezer.com/

and here's the track listing:

'Weezer' Red Album

1. Troublemaker
2. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Variations on a Shaker Hymn)
3. Pork and Beans
4. Heart Songs
5. Everybody Get Dangerous
6. Dreamin'
7. Thought I Knew
8. Cold Dark World
9. Automatic
10. The Angel and the One

Bonus tracks

Democratic Debate: Obama getting the shaft

I am sitting here watching tonight's debate between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. At this point it feels like Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos are railroading Obama right and left. It's sad really. I am actually feeling angry, because Ms. Clinton just has to sit there, and watch them lob bombs into Obama's lap. This debate feels like a lo-fi brow beating. There is alot at stake in this debate, every poll, every article and news report I see says that the Pennsylvania Democratic Primary will basically pick the Candidate.

How can these guys sit there and lead this attack? For the first hour of this debate there was not a question about a real issue. All ABC wanted to talk about was Obama's pastor and the comments His pastor has made in the past.

It's also funny how when confronted, Obama actually will defend, Hillary, and extend grace to her. On the other Hand, it feels a little like Ms. Hillary jumps in and hits Obama right after Charlie or George pops off one of those confrontational attacks.

I like Obama. After reading this, i am sure thats evident. If you Live in PA please go out and vote on April 22nd.

Banksy: Subversively Affecting the Culture

If you've never heard of this guy you should google his name right now. He's probably the most prolific graffiti artist in the history of vandalism. No one has ever caught him, and apparently only a hand full of people even know who he is. From what I read this was one of his Most dariing feats yet...pulling it off, right in front of a Closed Circuit Surveillance Camera

I love his work...he is sarcastic, pithy, and relevant. This is a clear example of a guy who is submersed in the the culture, affected by what he sees, and then sends a message to everyone he can. I don't think he's in it for the glory, or he'd be holding press conferences. He might be in it for the "legend" that he is creating, but I would tend to believe that he is in this more to get his messages out there, than to get his name "made" around the world. His approach, his tactics, his art, his message are seen and heard by millions. I think it's cool, there are many lessons I think we can all learn from Banksy.

No Time To Blog

Things have been nuts latley and oi have not had time to sit down and share any thoughts.

The brief this week:

There was a crazy guy on the subway preaching hellfire and brimstone, I wanted to punch him oin the mouth and tell him he was doing more harm than good.

A man passed out next to me on the bus this morning, and we had to drive him to the emergency room.

I learned that I need to start taking my lunch to work,

and I am trying to find joy in my day, and let go of my bitterness.

so theres all that.

People will vote on who makes the best remix...What do you get in return? I have no idea. But who cares, you get to play with radiohead's music.

Fulfillment in your job.

I spent last week in Breckenridge, Colorado. It is a very cool place. There is this different mindset there, the people are "chilled". I'm not just talking about the air temperatures...I mean the folks out there are in a different world. And...I guess they should be. They live at like 9,000 feet above sea level, and they are in one of the most amazing surroundings i have experienced.

While I was out there, I had a conversation with a guy in my brother-in-law's kitchen. He was talking about his job. He was ecstatic about his employment. Not just happy to be employed, but ecstatic, excited, exuberant, elated. He is a UPS driver. His face was jubilant, his posture was positive. He raved about how his route was awesome, the people were awesome, and the work is awesome. All I could think of was, why is this guy so happy with his job, and I am not. I work in a field that I thought would be so cool, so fun, so creative, so interesting, yet everyday i wake up with this crappy feeling in my gut, and worry about what kind of shit storm i am going to walk into. I envied his perspective, and the joy he found in his job. I want that. Where do i find that kind of perspective? If i could reflect that kind of awesomeness in my job....if i could find that thing that gives me hope, or joy in my job...i would change, not out of a desire to change, i would be formed from the inside.

Its cool to get perspective from other people. It helps us understand, who we are, and who we want to be...
